Hellenic Rescue Team (HRT) with the support of HMOD is organizing the Greek demonstration of the European project SAFERS that will take place in Thessaloniki suburban forest in the Hortiatis mountain on December 12, 2023. The pilot is involving all the key actors of the emergency management cycle like firefighters, rural agents, civil protection, and HRT volunteers.
The main objective of this event is to assess the capabilities of the tested services (such as the Chatbot for citizens and volunteers, Sub-seasonal weather forecast, Operational early-warnings, Smoke and fire detection systems, Fire propagation model, EO-based fire delineation models and the EO-based post-wildfire monitoring) to improve the management of wildfire risk across all the phases of the emergency management cycle (i.e., prevention & preparedness, detection & response, adaptation & restoration), including the engagement with citizens.
