Fire Ecology Across Boundaries : Connecting Sciences and Management

Focus on the connection between research and wildfire management, the Association for Fire Ecology (AFE), Pau costa Foundation (PCF), Regione Toscana and the University of Florence host a hybrid conference in Florence (Italy) and online. Subjects such as "The roles of fire ecology for the ecosystem", " New fire generations in Europe and beyond" or "Managing with fire vs prescribing fire for ecological purposes" will be discussed through multiples session interpreted in English, Italian, Spanish... The event aims to gather every actor of the wildfire management: scientists, policymakers, wildfire and landscape managers, communicators and other representatives from national, regional and local organizations.  


IX International Conference on Forest Fire Research & 17th International Wildland Fire Safety Summit

This conference aims to promote international cooperation on the developments in forest fire science and technology between different institutions. Taking place in Coimbra, Portugal from November 11th to 18th 2022, it will reflect on six major themes related to fire management in a research perspective: Fire at the Wildland Urban Interface, Fire Risk Management, Decision Support Systems and Tools, Fire Management, Fuel Management and Socio-Economic Issues. There will be a presentation of two courses, the VI Short Course on Fire Safety and the IX Short Course on Forest Fire Behaviour before the Conference, as related but separate events.

The 6th International Conference on Dynamics of Disasters

The study of dynamics of disasters is an important and worthwhile endeavor, with huge benefits for everyone. The island of Milos will host the 6th International Conference on Dynamics of Disasters on April, 2023, where experts share the latest findings on natural and unnatural disasters. An invitation is extended for those studying topics related to disasters to submit an abstract and paper and everyone to register to attend this conference.

In May 2023, scientists and practitioners will be meeting with the committee of the 8th International Wildland Fire Conference (IWFC) in Porto (Portugal) in order to compile and draft an International Principles for Integrated Landscape Fire Management Governance. This event aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise concerning wildland fire policies, research and management. It will give guidance for national and cross-boundary policies to reduce the negative impacts of wildland fire on the environment and humanity.
